Meaning of “handmade” today
Industrial fashion is the second largest market in the world, coming second only to food, and one of the most polluting on earth, involving the use of nearly 8,000 different chemicals to turn raw materials into clothes, accessories etc. Over 80 billion garments and fashion accessories are produced each year (Siegle, 2011). This became more than an ecological problem a long time ago. There are severely unethical practices and stark disregard for where we are heading in the future. Buying from the handmade workshops, all over the world, that use their hands and no chemicals is a big step to a better environment, better future for our children’s and final you help real people and their families and not big economical trust.
